DATABASE
Businesses or organisations may wish to make frequent updates, display different content based on the time of day (or any other variable you can think of); you might even want to give website visitors the ability to add content themselves.
To do any of these you'll need a dynamic website powered by a custom-built behind-the-scenes database where content is stored. In effect, this means you can add and manage stories, information, schedules and photographs without having to call on an html wiz. While it will cost more to design, host and run, in the long-term it may cost much less to maintain.
E-commerce sites are a very common form of dynamic site. Others include forums, community sites, web applications and portals.
EDITABLE AREAS
Editable web pages allow clients to change or add text, alter styles of text, add images, add links, create navigation buttons, without knowledge of html. This may present a economical alternative to a database for regularly-updated brochure websites.
