The techie stuff – what you get as standard
Standard issue for all websites are domain name registration, hosting, website maintenance and search engine optimisation.
- Domain name registration: Having discussed the range of possibilities for your site URL, I will register your website as .co.uk (.com and .org if desired, at additional cost).
- Search engine optimisation is an integral part of web design. To make your site perform well on the major search engines (Google, Yahoo and MSN), it must be 'optimised' so it can be found by browsers. This is done by adding keywords in the page titles, body copy and meta tags in order to gain optimum rankings.
- Hosting (where your website will sit). I will assess and manage your hosting needs – from basic to secure server and database hosting. As part of the hosting package you will have access to web statistics so you can monitor site traffic/ visitors. The first year of hosting is included in the quote; thereafter, if required, I will manage your website's hosting requirements from year to year.
- Website maintenance: Search engine optimisation takes time, so in the first year I will monitor and tweak optimisation twice over the course of the year.
- Email filtering comes as standard, to prevent spam emails being sent via your web-to-email link.
- Updates and amendments: The first two weeks after the site 'goes live' is a free amendment period (for basic tweaks). After this I provide an update service for which amendments are submitted at the beginning of a month for upload during the last week of that month. Cost: £30 per hour; totallled and charged at the end of the year.
